Frequently Asked Questions

What is squash?

Squash is an indoor racquet sport, played one against one. Players dynamically use all four walls to play and need speed, stamina, and flexibility, all of which has earned squash “the world’s healthiest sport” title by Forbes Magazine.

What grade can a student join the program?

    • For our Woodlawn location, we accept students starting in 5th grade and will consider students as late as junior year in high school.
    • For our Evanston location, we are currently accepting students in 6th and 7th grade specifically from Chute and Nichols Middle Schools.

How does a student join the program?

The first step in the process is to submit an application by clicking here. We have tryouts at the beginning of the school year each September, and given available space can accept students throughout the academic year. If offered a spot post-tryouts, students attend regular programming on a 3-month trial period. Students remain in MetroSquash as long as it remains a good fit for them.

Are there any fees associated with participation?

No – we do not charge tuition or a fee for participation. All squash equipment, travel, and supplies are all covered by MetroSquash. We do encourage our students and families to become invested in the program through their time, energy, and commitment.

Is the student able to just participate in the squash program or academics program?

Once a student has joined the program, he/she must participate in all areas of our program – academics, squash, fitness, and community service. However, there are opportunities to receive additional tutoring and squash coaching outside of regular programming.
