Meet Zoe L, a MetroSquash student and freshman at

Meet Zoe L, a MetroSquash student and freshman at Evanston Township High School who is paving the way for the future generations! Zoe really enjoys the squash and academic components, but those aren’t the sole reasons for keeping her invested and excited. It's her lasting friendships and the connections she is able to make with others through MetroSquash programming.

Zoe is aware of the responsibility she holds with being part of the first existing class in Evanston. “It’s exciting knowing that I will be a role model for other students.” Zoe received the Squash and Education Alliance’s 2022 Summer School Scholarship to attend a summer program for high school students at the University of Rochester. “I am pretty nervous for the future but I know this is a big opportunity for me. I am excited to work with others and really learn about myself through this new process.”

Everyday, Zoe demonstrates MetroValues and continues to be an advocate for her teammates. MetroSquash is very proud of Zoe’s accomplishments, and can’t wait to see what the future has in store for her.

MetroSquash students continue to celebrate Women’s History Month by studying influential trailblazers like Frida Kahlo, Susan B Anthony and Kayla Gore.

In enrichment, women in STEM has been the topic of conversation, specifically women who work at NASA. Relating to squash and athletics, students have been conducting discussions and watching short films about past and present women athletes.

On February 19, 2022, Ernie Lopez, dedicated Metro

On February 19, 2022, Ernie Lopez, dedicated MetroSquash supporter, started embarking on his second Camino de Santiago walk. He has dedicated this 600 mile 35 day walk to support MetroSquash!

Ernie's latest update: “I have done 160 miles and need to start averaging about 18 miles a day now. Blisters seem to be under control. I will keep walking.” -Ernie Lopez

Today, we are asking you to consider supporting Ernie on this journey by making a donation to his fundraising campaign. All funds raised through this campaign will support MetroSquash students!

We’ve wrapped up the Windy City Open! Eight days

We’ve wrapped up the Windy City Open! Eight days of jam packed events were hosted at the University Club of Chicago. The Liz Kutyla-Miner Scholarship Award was presented to our very own, Saharah Webb and directly following, MetroSquash hosted a fun-filled student, staff and board reception. MetroSquash Cup 2022 captains and participants gathered by the doubles courts for a cocktail mixer, and there continued to be many successful days of auctions and Chuck-A-Ball contests with our friends at the PSA Foundation.

MetroSquash is incredibly thankful to be the charity partner for the Windy City Open. What a blast, see you next year!
